Environmentalism is a political leaning. Your job sources are just the same as anyone else's. Environmental science is something else entirely and ecology is different from either.

If you really mean what areas are there for a person to be employed in the environmental field, plenty. The waste reduction field is growing as is the green engineering of homes, factories and cities. Hazardous waste technicians who manage the storage and transport and treatment of hazardous waste will always need  employees. The Haz Mat field where local fire departments or governments hire employees to respond to spills or disasters related to hazardous chemicals.

Also you could work as a lobbyist for environmental groups, you could work for business that hires environmental managers to develop sustainability programs and implement programs like ISO14001 or similar programs.
