  1. Plenty, as descibed in some of these beautifully visually inspiring answers that  seem to mostly be from those who work in the profession.

However like with alot of jobs, there will always be negatives instead think of the positive reasons why you want to work with children or else don't ,as children need to be cared for by adults who want to be with them as there are clearly enough persons working in the field already capable of passing on their negativity, check answers already left!!

If all you wish to concentrate on is the negatives, get a job in a supermarket and take out your bad attitiudes on the fruit and veg and stay well clear of children who will be damaged by your pessimism. If you want to consider a job with children be aware that as challenging as they can be some times, they bring alot more pleasure to your working life than apples and bananas!!

  2. The fact is, people get into this job for the wrong reasons.  People get into this job because they "love children."  That's a great starting point, but it takes a LOT more than that to be good at it or even enjoy it.  You have to WANT to **UNDERSTAND** children.  If you do not, you will hate the job.

Being with a child for a few hours is a lot different from being with 25 children for 40 hours a week.  Not wanting to grow in your understanding of how children operate will lead to frustration, anger, resentment, and a list of other negative emotions.  Not understanding the difference between parents and teachers will lead to many more other problems.

The negative effects come when you jump into this thinking, "I will love this ONLY because I love working with children."  You must also love seeking to get every child to develop and seeking what that child needs.

    Hope this helps!

not being taken seriously as a teacher just because you may not have the college credentials

  5. Low pay, long hours, b*tchy parents, late parents, and getting every illness every child brings into the daycare.

  6. The b@@@@y noise from those wee adoreable children.

  7. If with the elderly-unliveable pay,anti-social hours, staff shortage and having to treat them like lumps of meat due to no staff due to cutbacks.

  8. the smell of snot in a childs nose urlack!!!

  9. Poorly run provisions stink! When theres no real curriculum for the children. Rigid timetabled activity, art that the children don't have anything to do with,it's content, materials or display. The ignorance that abounds regarding parental involvement, the biases in practice that excludes young children.

  10. you get to deal with "granny poo" p155, vomit and a tirade of other nasties

  11. Usually the other staff.Having to listen to them winge all day cos all they have in theyre life is theyre work.So if you can put up with that, then i suppose it`s not a bad job.

  12. Attachment to people.  Constraints of budgets and off course the limited time you get to spend with the people.

  13. You will probably get sick a lot when you first start, I did and still do.  Parents send their children all the time since they have to pay regardless.  It can be a stressful job, and you won't get too much time off.  We are open almost daily, excluding holidays, but we do not have a winter break or spring break.  Sometimes parents don't respect that you are teaching the children because it is just "daycare".  The hours can be long because you run on ratio not on a schedule.  You have to wait for so many kids to leave before you can go.
