  1. My parents have both had it done.  Although the most common side effect is loss of night vision/how well you can see things in the dark, neither of them have experienced that, so I don't think it's too common.

  2. Some side effects of laser eye surgery may be blurry eyes, difficulty seeing at night, and dry eyes. Usually they go away after a few months. Your risk of side effects is reduced by being a good candidate. Speak to a surgeon near you and find out if you're a good candidate. Visit http://thelasikreview.com/lasik-yahoo.ph... to schedule an appointment. They'll answer any questions you may have.

  3. The most common drawback I hear about is the inability to see well in a darkened situation, like at the movies or driving at night. The light source (headlights, streetlights, the movie screen) may have halos or crescents of light which make proper viewing impossible.

  4. My mom had this done 2 1/2 years ago and she claims it to be the best choice she ever made =) The only side-effects were that her eyes felt dry for like 2 weeks (but they give you special eye drops to use) and she was fairly sensitive to light for a day or two after the surgery...

  5. the only problem i have i reading real small text i had it done to cure nearsighted vision i can now see road signs without glasses. now since I'm over 40 the reading might be age related they said i might need reading glasses someday. some people have dry eyes for a while but they give you eye drops for this

  6. There are risks to LASIK, But the problems are even greater when you add in the complications artificial corrections.

Artificial corrections don't address the real issues so our blurry vision continues to get worse year after year.

Artificial corrections bottleneck our brain speed, take away our 3D vision, give us a tight neck and tight shoulders. They suppress our imagination and reduce our senses of hearing and smell. In order to see through glasses, contacts, and lasik, our whole body is under a degree of tension. Because LASIK is etching your prescription onto your eyeballs it permanently locks these tendencies into our vision system.

  7. Laser eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and Lasik surgery in India by a company called Indian Health Guru Consultants. The Price for dental and Lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.

Indian Health Guru Consultants is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, Lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.

They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

    Hope this helps.

  8. I had a friend who had it done, and it was a disaster.  Among her side effects: what she calls "bug eye," in which she sees 6 of everything.  She doesn't even like wearing glasses now, because they just make the 6 of everything clearer.  She also has problems with night vision and dry eyes.

Check out the FDA's list of possible side effects below before making a decision.  If you have it done, you may want to have it done one eye at a time.  That way, even if something bad happens with one eye, you will still have one eye working.

  9. There are two type of Laser Vision Correction, standard and Wavefront guided.

Standard LVC corrects lower order abberations, that is your prescription.  Wavefront guided LVC corrects lower and higher abberations.  HIgher abberations are glare, halo's and ghosting.

If you have the standard treatment, there is a greater chance of having glare and halos after treatment.

There are two ways of preparing the eye before surgery, this is called LASIK and LASEK.  LASIK is where the surgeon creates a flap in your cornea, LASEK is where the surgeon gently moves across the epithelial layer on the outside of your eye.  LASEK is the surgery with least complications but it hurts alot more as the nerve endings are damaged, with LASIK the surgeon works below the nerve endings so it more like discomfort than pain.  LASEK takes about a week for visual recovery, LASIK takes about 2 days.

If you have LASIK there is a possibility that you could have complications with your flap, the best way to avoid this is to have a laser create the flap.  This gives you a personalised flap which is like a manhole cover, and slots back into place therefore there is less chance of it moving.

***YOU CANNOT GO BLIND FROM LVC*** They have been performing refractive surgery (the precursor of LVC) since the 1940's and nobody has ever gone blind!! They treat the outside of your eye.

There are known complications and if you are worried about these you should have a consultation at a laser provider and their consultants will tell you all about them. The worst that could happen is that you would need to wear glasses basically, but you already do that right? Some people can loose a line on the snellen test ( you know the one with the big E?) which means your eyesight could be worse afterwards but this is very rare, and practically unheard of if you have Wavefront guided LASIK with a laser to create the flap.

Some people get dry eyes after their surgery, but that normally goes in a few months and you are given drops by your LVC providor.

The better the laser, and the better the mathematical algorithm that their laser uses, the better the end result, espically if you have a high prescription.  At the moment Optical Express and Moorfields Eye Hospital have the best technology in the UK.

LVC corrects your distance vision, so as you age you will still need reading glasses, but that probably wont be until your in your 40's!

Have it done.  It is safe, it is accurate and it is predictable!
