  1. 1. Reduce, Reuse Recycle (Ever notice reduce comes first?)

    2. If you own a vehicle own a higher efficient one like a hybrid.

    3. Live downtown and rarely drive

    4. Give to various environmental charities (Union of concerned Scientists, Nature Conservancy, and the Sierra Club, etc).

    5. Go Vegan. Probably one of the greatest positive impacts an individual can have on the environment as meat production in more energy intensive, and creates massive amounts of methane (20x's more powerful than CO2), as well as takes us to 16 pounds of grain to make one pound of beef).

    6. Buy local goods. Being a locovore is key to helping the environment when our food is shipped an average of 1600 miles. I buy at the local co-ops and farmers markets. I also buy local woods, fragrance sprays, clothing and more. Whatever I can find that is of decent quality and price I buy over non-local.

    7. Gardening: I have planted many bushes trees and flowers over the last few years. I also have a food garden that brings local and sustainability to a whole new level.

    8. Compost: Saves loads on trash and I need not by fertilizers which are often petroleum based. I also save on having buy and to ship in extra dirt.

    9. Travel Less: Especially buy plane which literally releases tones of CO2 per passenger per trip.

    10. Promote Awareness: We can't do this alone

    11. Write elected officials to create green laws.

    12. Put CFL's or LED's throughout your whole house.

    13. Use solar and crank flashlights: They save me money and the environment in energy as well as the embodied energy of batteries.

    14. Use tote bags :America uses over 380 billion bags a year that will not decompose in the landfills.

    15. Drink filtered not bottled water which takes petroleum for each bottle you drink and through away.

    16. Throw away a little as possible: I often find uses of people who want things in which many would through away out of sheer laziness.

    17. Buy hemp clothing: grows more prolifically than cotton, is stronger fabric making it last longer, and requires no pesticides.

    18. Buy recycled goods such as toilet paper, reclaimed materials for shoes, used clothing and construction materials, etc.

    19. Add extra insulation to you house.

    20. Walk or bike where possible; Or if you must take public transportation.

  2. Don't drink.

    Don't smoke.

Recycle as much as I can, even picked up stuff.

    Don't have a car.

Use only public transport.  It's hard to read while you're driving.

Buy only food produced in this country.

Donate all used books to the local library.

    I'm sure there's more.

    Oh yes, use re-chargable batteries.

    Don't have a TV.

    Don't buy 'news'papers.

  3. I'm just gonna go out randomly slaying people. It is people who contribute to this global warming.

"Being green" cannot stop or start to reverse it, you can only slow it down, because you are still consuming things, energy, and the energy it took to make those things.

So you, question-asker, if you really cared about saving the planet, what should you do?

  4. you can not do anything about global warming.

and old Rodney there..... you're talking about 300 pounds this and 1000 pounds that...... careful talk like that will start you down a road you don't want to go down..... because pretty soon, big brother will be in your house TELLING you where to set your thermostat, or how much you can use. and then if you use too much, oops..... there's your carbon footprint TAX. all you people that think you can do something to make the world greener.... think about this; even if every person in the US went totally green.... that's only 300 million out of 6 BILLION. do you really think that China OR India will stop growing and developing? and how about the third world countries that want electricity, or that want to move out of the third world? really, changing all the light bulbs on the planet won't do a thing.... it's because global warming is produced by the SUN, not mankind..... and certainly not Co2. If that was true..... How did it happen in the past??? was mankind creating Co2 gas back then, but then we must have been wiped out too.....

    please wake up people.

  5. I sell solar thermal panels

  6. this blog tell alot

    http://www.smallstepsatatime.blogspot.co...

  7. the planet is fine its humanity that needs saving from global warming

  8. This is my contribution to curb so called climate change.

    1. Had my 1983 car converted to LPGas. No more new cars....re-cycled the old Subwagon.

    2. Fluoro light globes fitted thru house.

    3. Put a coat on instead of putting heater on higher.

    4. Use a wood heater 'cos we don't have nuclear here in Oz.

    5. Use my 2x7000 Lt. vinyl swimming pools as a water tanks.

    6. Wash clothes, toilet and garden water from pools.

    7. Ride a pushbike & a Honda 110 cc postie bike often.

    8. Grow most of own vegetables. Planted many trees here.

    9. Have compost bins.

    10. Use microwave instead of stove for cooking.

    11. No appliances left on Stand by.

    12. Use Tefal Quik cup for heating water for tea/coffee.

    13. Would like to do more but have insufficient funds.

  9. Planting more trees; recycling nonbiodegradable specially plastic garbage  while some biodegradables are made into organic fertilizer and not burning them to minimize the emission of carbon dioxide which causes the change of temperature in the atmosphere.

  10. Considering that electricity production accounts for the largest share of global warming and that nuclear fission is the best technology for generating electricity without emitting CO2 it's pretty clear that promoting nuclear power is the most effective way to save the planet.

Having a small car also helps but that's largely for economic reasons (the environmental effects from cars will be dealt with by synthetic fuels once we've dealt with electricity by replace coal and wind with nuclear).

I also realise that the small things like energy efficiency that some people promote aren't enough and only serve to distract people from the areas where big gains to be had (and Jevons paradox may spring a really nasty surprise on the energy savers, just look at how the greens (not the environmental movement) reacted to the Tata nano).

  11. I don't smoke or read any liberal newspaper, hope that helps. LOL
