  1. i liked when she was trying to sweep a deck, but, being (usually) spoiled, she had no clue how and everyone was teasing her. it was kinda sad, but you knew she deserved it and it was kinda funny. personally, i liked Becoming Naomi Leon better. the plot, the characters, the ending... much better...

  2. My favorite parts were when Esperanza and her mother came to California and Esperanza learned that she had to work and that in America Miguel's family was equal, not lesser, to hers. These moments were bittersweet to me as well. I thought is was hilarious that Esperanza didn't know how to sweep, felt saddened when Marta teased her for it, but it was all better when Miguel taught her how and told her not to feel bad for not knowing how. In addition, I liked the first day she watched the twin babies and gave them plums [I didn't know you couldn't give babies plums. Good thing Esperanza fixed the problem with rice water].

I read this book in third grade and loved it so much! Every once in a while when I've nothing to do I skim through the book relishing it.

  3. hated the book. sorry

  4. well the one part i read was like she was laying some where with papa and they went through a grape vine place.. I think i read it in 3rd grade and that was 5 years ago.......

  5. I really liked this book, problem is, I read it like a really long time ago. But I like the suspenseful parts, like when they had to hide in the wagon. But I also think that it was really good how she had to clean and stuff, because she used to have that stuff taken care of for her. I think that it was a really good, moral book, and very well written.

  6. my favorite was the saddest part, when her father didnt come home and had died. it was so well written and i started to cry.
