What rabbit is best around about four yorkies?

im wanting to get a rabbit but we have four yorkies and we dont know if a rabbit would get along with the dogs or not

  1. A warning to do NOT get a rabbit!

    No rabbit  want's to be around a dog aways!

      A Yorkie will kill it and eat!

    These kind's of dogs will kill rabbits!

    (I know because i have rabbits)


  2. ok heres my experiance, i have 2 rabbits and i have a bull terrier and they get along fine, i got my dog when he was a puppy and i only had one rabbit at the time in the begining i kept the rabbit in his cage and i would let my terrier sniff him well it took some time and now they get along perfectly fine i just decided to get another rabbit and he doesnt mind the new rabbit, but i was taking taking of my mother in laws yorkie (terrier) and she didnt really like the rabbits at the begining and then she got used to them, i think it all depends on how u train the dog my  bull terrier was a puppy when he came into the house and he didnt mind them, he basically grew up with them, but the yorkie was always by herself thats why she didnt really like the rabbits.  terriers were breed to hunt vermen, and in ur case since u already have the dogs and its a rabbit going into the home it might be risky but not impossible, just be very careful

  3. A larg rabbit with small dogs. That might be a good mix. Make shure the rabbit is bigger than the dogs so that the dog cant hurt him. Flemish giants are nice :)

  4. haha better question is, will the dogs get along with the rabbit....it's in terriers blood to go after vermin....

Yorkies are terriers.  They have a strong prey drive.  I would keep any rabbit separated from the dogs at all times to avoid injury, should you bring one home.  If your dogs are all 100% reliable in terms of obedience commands (especially 'leave it') you can maybe very carefully introduce them to a rabbit.  Look here for ideas on how this should be done: http://www.rabbit.org/journal/1/dogs.htm...  However, with 4 dogs, it is possible that at least one will continue to see the rabbit as 'dinner', despite any careful introductions.

  6. well if you go to a pet rescue center, they find rabbits that are compatible with other animals x
