  5. The most outstanding bike was the garish, radical, pink and blue Vtwin Britten V1000. By the genius Kiwi John Britten (may he rest in peace). This bike was revolutionary and almost completely hand made by one guy from New Zealand in his shed.

He made most of the bike himself such as -

Carbon fiber body work including rims and front suspension forks

Hand cast, 4 valves per head alloy engine

Frame-less chassis acting as a stressed member

Radiator located under the riders seat

Carbon fiber fasteners (joining body work together)

Rear suspension shock located in front of engine

    Engine data logging

    Non-Britten Components -

    Tires

    Steel cylinder liners

    Gearbox (sourced from a Yamaha)

    Suspension shocks

This is a very rare motorcycle as only 12 were ever built as John Britten died in 1995 just as the bike were becoming successful.

If you want to find out more chech out his web site - http://www.britten.co.nz/
