I was adopted so I never knew my birth parents.

I have dark brown curly hair, dark brown eyes and I tan easily.

I think I may be at least partially mediterranean, greek or similar.

Are there particular characteristics to look for to determine my origins?

  1. Ouch! I don't usually answer for adoptions; the only good suggestion I have is a DNA test.  Unfortunately, many different ethnic groups have similar characteristics; contray to popular beliefs, the early people migrated constantly, intermarrying, mixing with one another.  Folks fleeing the Black Seas flood, for example, migrated along all of the Mediterranean coastline, around Spain, and up to the British Isles.  Since they were Turksic peoples, their DNA was cast along the northern shores of Africa, Greece, Italy, France, Spain...

  2. You could be a Scandinavian/Benelux/Gaelic/Celt/British... or maybe you could have a Germanic/Iberian/Italian background. Possibly Eastern European/Balkan/Greek, or maybe Native American/Inuit. Umm, maybe Hispanic (Costa Rican/Honduran/Mexican) or Caribbean (Aruban/Puerto Rican) or South American (Brazilian/Argentine). They might not even be in Europe, it could be Russian, Israeli Jewish, or Turkish or maybe Western Chinese (not the Han Chinese people that you have probably seen). There's a slight possibility that you are Arab, with Middle Eastern or North African descent. You could ask your adoptive parents if they knew or post a picture so we could understand your looks better, because the description you gave made you sound anything from Scandinavian to Moroccan!
