Question:

What radar detector/jammer to purchase?

I'm trying to figure out what radar to purchase. Today I got a speeding ticket and my current 8500 x50 didn't do go off at all.

The cop was using an Ultralyte Laser in "stealth" mode which my current radar detector apparently won't pick up. I understand by the time you get LASERed it's already too late, that's why I'm also going to purchase a jamming kit too.

What would you say is the best radar detector and jammer combination to buy? Or help with either would be great, I'm currently thinking about the V1 or 9500i for the detector and Laser Interceptor or Blinder.

Also does anybody know how well the Escort ZR4 or SR7 work together?

  1. I may be misunderstanding this but...

How about you drive the speed limit, Einstein.

  2. There are several integrated radar detector and laser jammer systems. I would shop for a system that works together instead of simply buying 2 separate products.

Speed Measurement Labs and 1stRadarDetectors.com just completed this year's testing of radar detectors and laser jammers. The best radar detector in the world continues to be the Beltronics STi Driver. The best laser jammer continues to be the Blinder M45 Laser Jammer. Both of these units are combined in the Prowler Remote System PRS4-STi (see sources for link.) The PRS4-STi is also available with the Blinder M25 instead of the Blinder M45, if you need to save some money and only need laser protection in front OR back. The PRS4-STi is $40 cheaper than buying both products separately. That's just one of the many Prowler Remote Systems options. Another option is the Escort 9500ci, which includes the Escort  Passport 9500i radar detector and the new Escort Passport ZR4 laser jammer in one integrated system (see sources).

As you can see, there are a lot of integrated radar/laser systems available and none of them are cheap. I would call 1stRadarDetectors.com at 1-866-678-9101 (free call) and ask them what system is right for your vehicle and location. You don't have to buy anything from them, but you can't get better free advice.

  3. I don't know what you drive, but consider a car that presents a lower profile to a lase and getting a plate cover.

I don't use detectors, I rely on gut feeling and my eyes.

Yes I get caught, but not in the last 10 years. Two speeding tickets in 40 years of driving.

Don't let my age fool you, and if I let you pass me it is because I want the bear bait in front of me not behind me.

  4. my cousin using that too in his car but is he really escape from approaching patrol cars "no'' he was still at least 2 tickets he's paying and community service to reduce bills you might out-run them but i think that flying chopper may track you and besides is't the GPS the one they use to monitor traffic? maybe

  5. I'd only go with the Escort 9500i.  I'd only trust Escort and Beltronics in the radar detector market now.  I'm not too fascinated with the V1 anymore.  I have no need for jammers as i've never gotten tickets while using a plain old detector so I can't help there.  Keep in mind, though, that the cops are ALWAYS gonna be a step ahead.  Don't consistently rely on the detector, use your eyes first.  Consider getting a CB radio too.
