  1. I have a set of the Ritchey 26x1's on my bike as I seldom if ever take it off pavement.

These are fast tires, but if the pavement gets wet, they can be a little tricky. Or if a woman pushing a baby stroller cuts in front of you at a crosswalk while she is gabbing on a cellphone, you might find out that your bike will stop much faster than with knobbys. Like fast enough to flip the bike, leaving you with a scar in the shape of an MP3 player on your tricep. (my first ride with the slicks.)

  2. Why do you want to put thinner tires on a downhill wheels?

Depending on the rim, maybe somewhere around 2.1 or 2.3 tires, but it might vary between tire makers.

  3. Ritchey makes a 26X1" with slick tread.
