I fly a Barron 58 for our company and they want to get the CJ 680. I have about 900 hrs PIC with no jet PIC/SIC. I know i need the type rating, but what else? I have my PPT, CFI, and Commercial.

  1. At this point you actually have all the required certificates.  However the insurance company will scream bloody murder if they try to type you in that plane.  I can basically guarantee you that they will require AT LEAST 2500 TT with 1000  turbine before they will even consider insuring you.  And I also guarantee that they will require an ATP.

  2. is your comm for single, or multiengine?

    instrument rating would be beneficial

    must have..

    (1) Aircraft category ratings

    (i) Airplane.

    (2) Airplane class ratings—

    Multiengine land.

    Aircraft type ratings—

    (i) Large aircraft other than lighter-than-air.

    (ii) Turbojet-powered airplanes.

  3. I'm sure you have enough of everything except jet experience....it will difficult to insure you with little or no jet time.  I remember Thurman Munster, not sure of spelling, got a type rating with a private ticket and within a week he killed himself in a Citation.
