Well if you want on-road HPI makes the RTR (ready to run) Sprint 2 cars for around $200, and the E10 Series for about $170. The cost varies depending on the body. For off road I would suggest the DuraTrax Evader EP for $150 it is also a ready to run model and the one my neighbor has is reliable and fairly quick.

no, not electric! get yourself a gas powered rc car on ebay for about $200! They are much faster and fun to drive. if you do decide to go electric, look for a car with a "brushless motor" its a super super fast motor! check on youtube for "brushless motor rc car" and you'll see how fast they are

a remote control car for $200 ? don't think so. because some of them use gasoline and are more expensive. and also, spend it on other stuff.
