Question:

What really caused the recent Yosemite fire?

The news report said simply it was a target shooter. But target shooting doesn't normally increase fire danger. The anti-gun liberal press is making much of this apparent distortion of the facts, but what are the facts? Was it a black powder smoldering wad or something unusual like that? Does anyone know?

  1. The only way a target shooter started that fire was if he didn't properly put his cigarette out

The fact that no one will elaborate supports that theory

  2. As much as I would like to agree with you....target shooters often shoot at steel targets...Hit a piece of steel with a high speed lead bullet and you generate heat.   If you do not believe me,   shoot a steel target and then run and feel the impact point immediately.  It will be warm.   If the bullet hits the edge the hot steel can hit a piece of grass and start a fire...

Also,  what if the guy is a smoker?  Is the press going to say a smoker started the fire?  It is more politically correct to say a target shooter started the fire,  even if it was started by his butt......

  3. Thousands of people out enjoying hundreds of different hobbies have started fires accidentally.

The most common cause of this is being careless with a cigarette.  However, when a guy riding bikes, bird watching, just messing in the woods, or doing whatever starts a fire, he is never demonized based on his hobby.  The news never says "bird watcher starts fire (while smoking cigarettes)" because that makes it sound like bird watching is some evil dangerous hobby.  But the news media has no problem stating "Target shooter starts fire (while smoking cigarettes)"

  4. It was the anti's trying, once again, to make facts that help them destroy our rights.

  5. I can't believe the mainstream media in this country would exaggerate, distort or falsify facts to support their anti-gun agenda. ****

**** I hope you recognize sarcasm when you see it !!

  6. The BLM in Nye County (NV) issued a warning several weeks ago that bullets with a steel core can cause fires when they hit certain kinds of rocks and other backgrounds.
