What really happened to JT on Degrassi?

I know in the episode he dies because he is stabbed for confronting a guy for urinating on his car... But why did they cut him from the show? Like what was his story in real life? Does anyone know?

Because Ryan Cooley wanted to go to college and they didnt want to recast

Well. I heard that he wanted to be off of Degrassi.

Ryan Cooley [the actor why played J.T.] wanted to go to University, so he left Degrassi and they killed J.T. off of the show.

In an interview with theTVaddict.com, Ryan Cooley said that he was thinking about going to University and leaving the show before he actually found out that J.T. was going to die.

He said that finding out that J.T. was going to die and that it would be his last time on the show made it easier for him to decide to go to University.
