I understand that she gained some publicity before and after she married prince charles but there are many european princesses in the various european royal families and most of them are only known in their countries of origin not worldwide...

Sure, princess diana did charity work but she wasn't the first royal to take part in charity work, she was glamorous and stylish but there were many princesses that were equally beautiful & glamorous..... she had marriage problems just like so many other people...

So i just want to know what made her so famous because there are many princesses in europe that haven't gained as much fame and publicity as she did....

  1. Because she was kind hearted

  2. Her works as a philantrophist

  3. I was sitting in a Las Vegas motel when the Royal Wedding came on live. I'd say that shows she was famous before the later dramas and her untimely death.

Also, royalty in many countries are respected but are treated with a lot less pomp & ceremony than the UK royals. Maybe because most of them have seen their countries invaded & they've had to go into exile numerous times over the past 1000 years or so. The UK royals are pretty much in a class of their own in that regard.

  4. we have one of the most aggressive press and paparazzi in the world.  Diana was very keen on self publicity - she would often telephone the paparazzi to tell them where she would be so they could go and film her.  She adored being in the press, often pulling silly poses to make herself appear vulnerable.  Most other princesses tend to get on with their jobs rather than want to be celebrities.

  5. Because she was the first member of the royal family to do a lot of charity work - on such a large scale - from walking in mine fields to visiting homes for those suffering from HIV.

She was kind hearted, she was glamorous, she was a good mother to her children, and did her best to keep them out of media eyes, allowing them to have normal (as much as possible) childhood.

  6. She was an empty-headed publicity-seeker who courted the British tabloid press.  Before her death, she was a byword for non-news stories in the press.

  7. I think it was a multiple of things  from how she met Prince Charles, tho the wedding, the divorce and the all the charity work she did, and the paparazzi following her at the same time as well. The British really love their royals.

  8. she changed the royal family, from being old fashioned, out of touch toffs & now the young royals are as normal as it is possible for a royal to be. she also liked the men & had quite a few affairs, with the likes of the england rugby captain & a bloke who harry is the spitting image of. ding dong!

  9. I think it is because she was born a commoner (albeit a very privileged one) who married not only a prince but the heir to the throne. Diana was a very shy girl who came to love the limelight and made the most of photo-opportunities and was therefore the media's darling. Diana made the mistake of out-shining her husband. Most of the European princesses have not made that mistake and behave with rather more dignity and decorum.  Possible exceptions are the daughters of Prince Rainier. Compare Diana to Prince Charles's current wife. It is like comparing a bright star to a stuttering candle.

Who on Earth is interested in Camilla? Diana became an enigma and she loved it. She loved adulation, she loved it so much that she became the architect of her own downfall.

  10. Diana who?

  11. i think her death

  12. She was unique - a copyrighters dream! "The Unhappy Princess". It's like something out of a Grimms fairy tale, and even I can knock you up a stipd headline.

"Beautiful, Priviledged And Lonely - She Had Everything, But Love".

In reality she was rather a mixed-up woman, whose poor self-image and difficult and loveless marriage made her very attention-seeking, leading to a long and disruptive life-long love affair with the press and paparazzi. The positives were that she could advance the charitable causes which appealed to her and get the publicity for herself that she also craved. The negative was that she had no privacy for her little pecadilos, and that she was mercilessly hounded by those wanting to secure photographs to sell to the more scurrilous newsappers and magazines. Big money.

  13. Before she married Charles she worked in a children nursery a typical Sloane Ranger and not particularly well educated her life changed when the monarchy decided Charles must provide an heir to the throne. After a long search Diana was chosen to be Charles wife but Diana soon realised what a terrible mistake she had made by agreeing to marry Charles, his affairs and the rigid protocol  of royal life did not suit Diana and so the marriage began to fall apart, Charles friends started a campaign to discredit Diana but Diana soon learned how to use the media to her own advantage often tipping of the press about her "charity engagments" and promising pictures galore,  pictures of her holding babies suffering from the AIDS virus and taking William & Harry to meet the homeless and alocholics on the streets were all aranged by Diana, her relentless campaign to promote Diana as the "Queen of hearts" became to much for the monarchy and a decision to "stop Diana" was taken the rest is history

  14. SHE WAS SO KIND TO PEOPLE THE PEOPLES PRINCESS,!!

  15. papparazzi did that for her.

  16. james hewitt, ding dong.

  17. Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles affair

  18. Sure she did a lot with charity and she was one of the first people to actually visit and touch someone with aids, also she was beautiful and royal plus it was speculated she was having an affair but what really made her famous was her death and how she died

  19. The Queen of the UK is known world wide, at one time Dianna was going to be the next Queen. The initial publicity was because of the difference between her and the rest of the royal family, it was pretty hard to imagine the out dated monarchy and having someone so young and vibrant being Queen.

She used this initial global publicity as a starting point and built on it allowing her fame to snowball.

  20. firstly it was because she was the wife of the heir to the throne then because she was the mother of william and harry and then the lady herself shone she was a stunning beutiful woman who was treated terribliy by prince charles and his family but no matter what happened diana would always be there with a hug and a symperthetic ear more than anyone elsed could ever do in the royal family and more importantly it was for people she didnt see race or colour or creed or even if they were ill diana was there and she was truelly the queen of hearts were as the latest wife of charles isnt even queen of the donkeys

  21. she was hailed as the people's princess, she was young and beautiful and married into a family most girls would dream of being part of, she was also more reachable and human than the rest of the monarchy, she was interested in what others were saying and going through, she was a sympathetic, helpful, loving person, i think that is what her so popular with the public and paparazzi, she also had a loving touch and a warm smile for those she met, and dedicated her life to trying to change the world for the better

  22. She was famous because before she died she gave a famous speech 2 help people. Shes was the first one to touch someone with AIDS.

  23. She was famous because she courted and married Prince Charles as his trophy princess. He was and is unpopular and she gave people some faith back in the monarchy. Her work with land mines was very controversial and quite un- princessly. (She was not supposed to interfere with politics or industry.) But her sincerity and public support endeared her to the common person in the street.(They are the sort of people got injured by landmines.) They all agreed with her that people are more important than world domination and profits. Her cause humiliated the politicians a thing everyone is pleased to see.

After her tragic death she is now a martyr dieing before the world became disenchanted with her. So she lives on.

  24. For some reason she caught the public imagination.  many english people went crazy over her, and she just had something that made people admire her.  And it spread to other countries.  She was beautiful, charming, charismatic,a nd she just captivated people.

  25. firstly she married into an already famous family; but i think more significantly she embodied the average joe blog. She was more atune with equality and made that plain to all she met queen ,prince, miner, builder any race or creed and especialy the poor of this world.

  26. She was famous for being famous, but she's dead now. Time to move on.

  27. Because she was part of the British royal family, which is by far the most famous royal family, and most interests the media.

When someone says 'the queen' who do you think of? I bet she isn't Danish!

  28. she married someone from like the most well known royal family AND she was kind and help a lot of people in the world

  29. Diana married into the most famous royal family in the world. The British Royals have always been able to capture the attention of the world, more than others. The only other royal family of interest for many was the Princely Family of Monaco, because of Grace Kelly.

And add to that the fact that Diana married the Prince of Wales;she was going to be queen one day.Diana was also tall, blonde and beautiful, photographers loved her.People paid attention to her,her hair, her clothes. If she weren't so beautiful, the media wouldn't have been so interested.Diana was also kind;she was able to connect with people. She showed that she cared by paying attention to what people said to her.She was even able to give people personal aide, visiting many people on her personal time.

Luckliy,Diana used the media attention to spotlight her charitible work.

  30. She was an attention seeker and used her royal status to gain that attention from the media..... however, it backfired on her when she became a target by the press because they were making alot of money out of her... so there would be photographers hiding in bushes when she would go out for walks or to the gym and this resulted in millions of photo's published in hundreds of magazine's around the world...

However, i understand what you mean because she wasn't a hollywood star or such....

She manipulated the press with her status and later used the press to uncover the truth about her broken down marriage to prince charles....
