Our intellect and will. But what sets us apart from animals is that we are not governed by our instincts, that is, we just don't p**p anywhere and anytime. Our intellect guides our will (well, its should) and we form habits. Instead of instincts, we form habits (good ones) which are educated tendencies that makes us more human.

(ANS) Good question but the answer is quite simple:-

No.1 Humans are the ONLY creatures (species) to have "REFLEXIVE CONSCIOUSNESS" what does this mean ??

**It means human consciousness (awareness) has evolved to be very different from all other creates. We are aware of ourselves, aware that we exist in space & time, that we have existed in the past and that there is a future too. And this includes our own mortality & that one day we will die.

No.2 "Tool making" also is another factor that makes us different. YES! some primates can & do make simple tools like chimps. But tool making in humans has been taken to a completely different & far more sophisticated level.

No.3 Creativity & Artistic ability is a third factor that makes humans completely different. No! other species has developed there artistic abilities to the level of humans.
