  1. a horse cant even stand with broken front legs and the rest of the horses life is basically torture for the animal.  it is less painful to put the horse down than to make it live with such a bad condition.

  2. horses of little value ,studwise, would be put down for 1 broken leg,,,a horse with a broken leg is a difficult animal to deal with as they sleep standing up....here we go (is it financially viable to keep it alive)

look up royal palace,,,,if you win a derby and are worth millions at stud they suspend them from the roof on slings until their leg heals because its worth it

  3. Remeber Barbro? Even with just one broken leg, and 8 desparate months of the best treatments, the best surgeries, and the best medical care available, he had to be put down. The reality for the animal is endless pain, and a constant fight against infections. Her injuries were so much worse, and while it breaks our hearts, they did the only humane thing possible, and helped her go.

  4. It is hard for a horse to recover from just one broken limb, but to survive compound fractures in both front ankles is nearly impossible.  This type of injury is extremely rare and the veterinarians did the only humane thing they could for Eight Belles. Euthanasia was the right choice.

  5. Did you not hear of the great horse, Barbaro, who last year broke his hind leg while racing. He had the best vet care money can buy, and they had him up walking after months of treatment, yet lamanitis set in and he had to be put down. Horses seldom lie down, even to sleep and in Eight Belles case, she had a compound fracture(bone thru skin) which caused her great pain, they did what was the humane thing to do. Horses cannot lie down while breaks heal and she would not have been able to stand on 2 broken front ankles even if the breaks had been enclosed.

  6. who cares!

they had no right killing her!

they could of given her to a horse farm where they care for ill, abused, or HURT horses it is soo sick and disgusting!

they could of done something, but they killed her.

why do u think its right?!?!? ahhhh!

  7. I have only heard of one horse who has ever made it back to walking from a broken leg. It is a very hard and pain staking process and is painful to the horse to the point that its more humain to do it then attempt to save the horse.
