What reason do they have?

Question

Im just wondering... all these people on here come on every day and say "Global warming is the largest hoax ever made on man kind" and I would just like to know why. What reason do these people have to make it up, all the scientists that aren't oppopsed of it? Al Gore? What would they get out of it?? I know that if global warming is "real" and is caused by humans we would have to make dramastic changes in the way we tret the enviornemt which would put a strain on our dwindling economy.... I just don't understand why we would make up global warming...

Hmmm.. I remember some very prominent Scientists and Engineers who said the world was going to "shut down" because of the Y2K computer bug, and you wouldn't even be able to make toast.

Then again, nobody saw the Tsunami coming.

What are you afraid of?  This could all be over in the blink of an eye.

The reason is money, global taxes, and money for research, and fear as a control factor to get the money, and people jumping on board the band wagon to help their career and kiss **** with the elite.  

The reality is.. nobody knows for sure.  There is enough alternative science, prominent people, who debunk it.  h**l, the guy who created The Weather Channel is going to sue Al Gore for his lies.  That's good enough for me, especially since I am a victim of Y2K Crazies.

The science establishment today operates on the principle of 'publish or perish' which means scientists must get their ideas published in reputable jounrnals if they want to get funding and advance their careers.

The trouble is most of the jounrnals rely on anonymous peer review as a way of determining which science gets published. In practice, this means that papers with conclusions which the reviews like will get very little scrutiny. Papers which have conclusions with the reviews don't like will be analyzed carefully and every flaw will be duely noted.

This means a scientist who wants to get published is much better off accepting the 'concensus' because it is easier and will allow them to get more papers published.

Once in a while someone comes a long with a radical new idea that cannot be ignored. However, those radical innovations are rare and most science simply builds incrementally on the work of others.

In short, there is no conspirasy - it is just a bunch of individual scientists looking after their best interest. However, that does not mean they are right.

The only reason people don't want to accept Global Warming is because they don't want to change. Humans are so set in their ways that they don't want to be told what to do with their life. Most are selfish. I cannot tell you why they don't believe the facts though, I've been paying attention to this stuff for years, and even before the global warming talk I wondered how we can live so dirty and wasteful and not see any repercussions.

Stop ranting. Scientist make up global warming to make money. Heres a good example, al gore. That pig is selling "carbon credits" to people, making some millions and only stupid people buy that ****.

You get paid more just to say "yes, global warming is real".

You'd be surprised at the number of ANTI global warming sites out there, they all have solid scientific evidence too, unlike those that say global warming is happening.

It all depends on a bunch of unknowns, such as if the cloud cover will trap heat in, or keep it out?

As some sea ice melts, even more is freezing! The levels of ice towards the CENTER of the poles has actually increased more then the overall ice has decreased!!!

To add to this, water is the one exception to the law that states almost all mater contracts as it cools and expands as it is heated. So this means that as water, or salt water in this case, turns into ice, it EXPANDS. Because it expands there is more of it, displacing more water, causing the sea levels to rise! Yet somehow the media has seemed to avoid discussing this point..........

Bri, I understand why you question the reason for such an elaborate hoax. I am not going to try and convince you. I am going to let you see some of the evidence, and let you decide. I, like you, thought global warming was a fact. I mean, everybody says it is. They even talk about it on The Weather Channel. But then, I read something that got me looking into it more deeply, and I discovered some things that didn't make sense. So, I looked even deeper.

The whole global warming thing started with James Hansen's testimony at some congressional commity hearings on climate change in the 1980's. This guy's been riding this for a while. He's the same guy who told us in the late 1960's that we were heading for a new ice age.

the reason's for the global warming hoax? Depends on who you are. Lots of different agendas. For scientists who say it's true, the get grants for other research they are doing, and in the community they live in, no research, no carrier. As for Al Gore, money, and being in the spotlight. As for his movie, there are lots of wild claims he's making to try to scare you, and it's selling the movie. If it wasn't for Global Warming, you'd never hear the name,  Al Gore. As for the media, stories of doom sells lots of newspapers and magazines. Always has. The big reason for the Global Warming hoax; $5 billion dollars in climate research for last year. Think, we put up $5 billion dollars to research something they tell us scientists around the world have concluded. Why?

On Dec. 13, 2007, 100 scientists jointly signed an Open Letter to Ban Ki-Moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations, requesting they cease the man-made global warming hysteria and settle down to helping mankind better prepare for natural disasters.  The final signature was from the President of the World Federation of Scientists.

Taking the position of advocatus diaboli, lots of people said that Stalin was a great guy, not because he was, but because they believed in Communism.  Similarly, there have been people arguing for the dissolution of industrial civilization and even agriculture (reducing the remnants of humanity to hunter-gatherers) for philosophical reasons, and global warming was a natural bandwagon for them to jump on.

But you're right.  The scientific foundation of climate change doesn't depend on any of those philosophies any more than Newton's laws of motion depend on the war-mongers building long-range guns and ballistic missiles.  It stands alone, and it is far too big (and far too open, being published in journals!) for a conspiracy to keep secrets.
