I have a Klipsch F- 3 system. The speakers handle 150 rms. I am currently looking at an Onkyo 7.1-Channel Home Theater Receiver Model #: ONK TXSR805 http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Onkyo-7-1-Channel-Home-Theater-Receiver-Black-TX-SR805/sem/rpsm/oid/184107/catOid/-12949/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

or a Pioneer Elite - 910W Model: VSX-92TXH http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8371503&type=product&id=1177718668551

Not sure which one is better or if there are better options.

  1. They both look identical in power and features, the onkyo is cheaper.I have 2 onkyo recievers and am happy with them, one is about 9 years old and the features on it are almost as up to date as my new one aside from the sat radio and the hdmi capabilities.I am sure you would be very happy with either one of them they are both good amplifiers.personally iwould go with the onkyo since they have proven their worthiness with me.ps i push them hard too and have no problems.

  2. Get the onkyo. The onkyo's power rating is rms power. So whatever it says it is putting out, it is putting out RMS. plus, onkyo are great receivers, with plenty of inputs, and an awesome remote that you can program everything into. plus, you can beat the Zone 2 setup they put on those.

  3. I would recommend the any Yamaha Receiver,  I have had mine for about 4 years and I love it.

If you not into Yamaha go with a Denon,  Expensive but one of the best out there.

Budget is what is going to help you choose.

  4. I have an Onkyo HT-R430...almost two years now....and its OUTSTANDING.   I bought is as part of a 5.1 Home Theater package.  Onkyo receivers are highly rated products and I would have to agree based on my personal experience.  Not sure 7.1 is needed though.

  5. Both

    of these

    are superb

    machines. All

    you need to do now

is to just choose the one

that you like the best for the

    features, ergonomics, cosmetics.

Bottom line, you'll be pleased with either.

  6. I'd say the pioneer.  But Yamaha is better than all receivers out there.  Check bestbuy, circuit city, and Tweeter if one is close to where you live for a good yamaha receiver.

  7. Out of the two, I might go with the Onkyo, though the Pioneer ELITE is a compelling choice.

However, there's a good number of other choices:

    Denon AVR-3808CI

If the Denon were in the running, I'd chose Denon over Onkyo and Pioner ELITE. Denon makes fantastic receivers with powerful amplifiers and excellent decoders.

    Yamaha RX-V1800BL

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?...

The Denon is a bit on the expensive side, so if you need to stick with a price that's around the same range as the Pioneer, I'd go with the Yamaha.

    Sony STR-DA5300ES

    http://www.tweeter.com/product/STRDA5300...

Sony ES is actually quite good and should not be confused with regular Sony products. This is bolstered by the fact that the 5300ES warranty lasts for 5 years and covers parts and labor. Plus, the S-Master Pro digital amplifier is very efficient and very powerful. Decoding is excellent.

    Harman/Kardon AVR-745

    http://www.harmankardon.com/product_deta...

Don't be deceived by the 85 watts per channel. Harman/Kardon tends to measure their amplifier power very conservatively.  They make excellent receivers and should be considered as well.

There are others, but I just can't think of them right now.

  8. I would get the pioneer out of those 2, or I would look fopr a Yamaha for around the same price, because they are generally the best recievers
