I live in a townhouse that shares a common wall with a neighbor who insists on using house as studio for his garage band. The noise is coming through my ceiling so I am thinking of laying some material in the ceiling. I'd prefer to recycle material. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

  1. Use cellulose insulation. It's 99% recycled and has a better sound and fire rating than fiberglass, and is less costly. The party wall maybe part of the problem also. That can be solved by drilling holes in the wall and blowing cellulose in. That I would recommend an insulation contractor to do, If you've never done it before you could end up with dry wall screws popping.

  2. i really don't think that it should be you spending your hard earned cash soundproofing your home because the neighbors are inconsiderate ask if there is anything that they could do to try and reduce the noise maybe they could stick empty egg cartons to their walls which may reduce the noise to and improve their acoustics when they play
