  1. My bad- ignore previous post.  I was actually right the first time.

Your great grandparents (your great-aunt's parents) are his great-great-grandparents.  Thus, you are

second cousins once removed (or by some terminologies third cousins).

So you can go ahead with the wedding. :)

  2. You're that person's second cousin once removed.  (People whose grandparents were siblings are second cousins, and cousins of different generations are "removed."  In this case, since this person's mother or father was/is your second cousin, you and he or she are removed only once.)

  3. Jonathan D - there's a wedding? lol. anyway i agree with jonathan

  4. Let us "Line" it out with assumed names. Matilda is your GG aunt, Harold is her brother your greatgrandfather.

    Harold & Matilda: Siblings

    Hans & Michael = 1st cousins

    Henry & Melvin = 2nd cousins

    HippyKid & Marilyn = 3rd cousins

So, you two are third cousins. Michael is her grandfather. Hans is your grandfather, Henry your father. Substitute real names if you want to print this out and show it to your family. I used Hs and Ms to show who was descended from whom.

Melvin, your dad's second cousin and Marilyn's dad, is your second cousin once removed, BTW. Removeds are when you go up or down generation levels.
