  1. none...most of us dont fast....some think it helps prayers...ive done it...for me it was more distracting than anything..

  2. While fasting, since your are hungry and thirsty all day, it is a constant reminder to repent all day long.

  3. well people show that they can fast to prove that they can live on only [whoever they worships] love and have faith in them . But i don't think it's about repentance because it shows that you are not greedy or in need of the more materialistic elements of life rather than proving that they are sorry for something..

  4. Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Whoever fasted the month of Ramadan out of sincere Faith (i.e. belief) and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his past sins will be forgiven, and whoever stood for the prayers in the night of Qadr out of sincere Faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven ."

  5. I agree wholeheartedly with The Apostle, but there can be a correlation. Repentance is also an asking of forgiveness, of turning about and no longer going the direction you were going in. Fasting is not only sacrificing something, but is also commonly known as an expunging or detoxifying or purifying method, in which you eat only bread or similar, and drink only water over a period of time in order to eliminate toxins. Both of these acts, in this sense, are cleansing and detoxing and rehabilitating actions.

  6. There is no relation between the two. Repentance is a turning away or forsaking of sin.

Fasting is a sacrificing of something. Not necessarily of just food.

  7. repentance is about making up for your sins, and i suppose fasting is a way of doing that?

  8. Well what i can tell you from my experience is...

Basically repentance is when you ask God to forgive you of your sins and you try your hardest to not repeat it again..

This is because it's not really repenting if you don't "turn from your sin"

    And with fasting...

Fasting is basically most powerful spiritual discipline of all the Christian disciplines. Through fasting and prayer, the Holy Spirit can transform your life. Through fasting, you seek for God, but you have to do it in the right way

  9. Fasting adds power to prayer and the denying of one self.

Repentance requires a conversion of heart which which must allow the dieing of oneself own natural inclination to sin
