  1. Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and the rest of her royal family (with a few exceptions) are Protestants. She is head of the Church of England, and is titled the Supreme Governor of the Church of England. In simple words, Protestantism was a religious protest against the more traditional Roman Catholic Church. The doctrines of the Reformation can be summarized as

    a) the rejection of papal authority,

    b) rejection of some fundamental Roman Catholic doctrines, c) the priesthood of all believers, d) the primacy of the Bible as the only source of revealed truth, and e) the belief in justification by faith.

Note: Although any royal member may choose its own religion (Protestant or Catholic), however, only true Protestant can inherit the crown, and any royals in the line of succession will be removed from having any rights to claim the throne, even if their spouse was a Catholic, and the royal remained a Protestant. For example, Peter Philip (Princess Anne's son) renounced his place as the 11th successor to the throne, after his engagement to his Catholic fiancée Autumn Kelly.

  2. Nominally Christians: but Some  have found several of the 10 commandments a tad difficult:

eg "Thou shall not commit adultery"

ditto "Thou shall not steal", ( Other men's wives?)

  3. Church of England, their Christians.

  4. The church of England the queen being the Head honcho

  5. Church of England, aka Anglican Church, aka Episcopalian.

  6. Church of Henry The 8th

  7. AS has already been stated, they are Church of England, of which Her Maj hold title of Defender of The Faith, she has even in public speeches etc she has even openly said she is Christian, credited Christian morals and even claimed Britain as a Christian country (which from our Government it clearly is, from morals and Church attendance not so mush)

  8. LOL... Church of England, Queenie is the head of it ;)

  9. They are CofE and defenders of the faith,,,

  10. The Queen is head of the church of England but they like to play safe so they are multi-denomination

  11. Do please note, Church of ENgland is political, not theological, in origin.  Not fundamentally protestant, it contains people who range in sympathy from catholic and orthodox to radical evangelical.  Makes it quite fun to observe.

  12. church of england as King Henry the eighth founded it

  13. Church of England (CofE) founded by Henry the Eighth. Known in some parts of the world as Anglican, Protestant, etc.  Faith is pretty tolerant which is a rarity in religion nowadays.

  14. Her Majesty is Head of the Church in England and defender of the faith.  She is actually known to be a very traditional Christian lady.  (Her family notwithstanding!!).  HRH Charles, Prince of Wales has suggested that he wants to be styled as "Defender of Faith" (as opposed to "the faith.).

Interesting fact: When the queen crosses into her realm of Scotland, she becomes Presbyterian!!!  (But she is not the head of the Church of Scotland.)

  15. Since Henry VIII's breakaway from catholicism, they are Church of England (protestant) and the monarch is the head of that church.

The church is known as the Anglican Church, and some churches around the world are affiliated to the Anglican Communion (including the Episcopal Church of the USA) - ST rightly points out the church is known for tolerance and inclusiveness - in the UK many CofE vicars are now women, some bishops are even openly g*y, but this was not always the case. In the days of Elizabeth I, the church was largely influenced by a hardline puritanical faction.

  16. Anglican- very similar to the Catholic church.

  17. As Betty is the head of the Church Of England one assumes that they're Christians.

  18. DIY religion

  19. Oh, you mean that German woman married to the Greek chap with the dysfunctional family. Church of England I believe.
