religion always seems to be created by men and for men... we're always being treated as inferiors.

Is there a religion were this is not the case?

  1. catholicism

  2. Wtf? Are you serious? Women probably have equal rights now if not MORE than men.

  3. none

  4. I agree.  Wicca sees men and women as equals.  I favor Buddhist principles.  Also, if you take Christianity based solely on the words of Christ and ignore St Paul, and the general church doctrine, Old Testament, etc., you will find that Christ treated women equally and women lead the small churches after the crucifixion, until St. Paul, a man who had not more real contact with Jesus than I have, declared that women should not participate in church, throwing out many leaders, and the church eventually omitted the Gospel of Mary Magdalene from the Bible.

  5. No,religion just gets confused with culture, which leads people into thinking that all religions are sexist.

If you dig very deep into hidden scriptures, you will see some religious writings saying that men and women are equal.

Religions like Islam and Hinduism are accused of being women-hating, but the truth is there are examples in there that glorify women.

I second Wicca and Buddhism treating men and women equally.

  6. religion is...i dont know how to sum it up in one word...

    just...dont go there please.

    an interesting story:

i recently watched a documentery, it was concerning parts of the bible that were not included in todays story.

the story actually goes, in the beginning there were adam and Lillith - yes thats right; Lillith.

Adam and Lillith were created equally from dirt

Adam wanted to be dominant over Lillith

she refused, was made an outcast and seen as a devil woman.

thats when Eve was created from the rib of Adam, and thus he was dominant over Eve.

  7. In theory, most of them pay lip service to the notion, in practice ... well, I'm sure various people feel their belief is the one, but it's certainly not obvious just by watching what they say and do.

    Cheers :-)

  8. There are religions that actually favor women over men.

Wicca is one, for example.  The Amazons, while not a religious group per se, believed that the gods they worshipped  favored women over men.  The few they kept were kept as servants, and most men were sent away as juveniles to other nearby tribes.

A few Native American tribes also favored women over men.

And if you want to count it, Buddhism generally believes that souls are souls; and that neither women nor men are greater.  They, along with gods, animals, spirits, and demons are all just souls on a path to learning various lessons in an attempt to find Nirvana (the lack of want--which leads to happiness when you no longer miss anything).  Buddhism is the only one I know where everyone might be considered equal as far as souls; but some with bad karma that needs to be paid off.  But nothing like gender or race based inequality.

  9. Christianity treats  women and men as of equal value spiritually.  Leadership roles in the Christian churches are mostly filled by men.  When it comes to religion, the state of your immortal souls should be of more importance to you that 'equality'.  If it isn't, then why bother to follow any religion anyway?
