I asked my vet and they said just a cotton ball and water, but it does nothing. I heard a tea bag and various other things, but I don't want to try anything that will hurt it. Anyone know of something that really works and isn't harmful to the cat? No bleach or anything like that please!

  1. Try vaseline where the tears leave stains, wash the area everyday like the vet said as well

  2. your vet can prescribe something called tylan powder.  it's a mild antibiotic that's used for IBD in pets, but it shows no adverse effects when used for this.  you just sprinkle a tiny amount on your cats food everyday.  and alot of vets are prescribing it for tear staining in pets.    over the counter, there's a product called angel eyes that has tylosin (tylan powder) in in it.  like i said, it's a VERY small amount and isn't harmful used long term.  http://www.petco.com/product/104691/Ange...

in the meantime, use johnson's baby shampoo and warm water to wash the area and use a flea comb if there is gunk under the eyes.  good luck, i hope this helps!

  3. my dog has tear stains as well, and for her we use wipes you can purchase at most likely any pet store, they can be used on both dogs and cats, they're non-toxic and disposable and work wonders!
