Question:

What removes extremely sticky residue from plastic?

I have a LOT of extremely sticky residue from reflective tape to remove from hard plastic surfaces (about 45’ sq/ft). I tried Goo Gone Xtreme. It removed the gunk, but melted the plastic. Normal goo gone seems to work, but would take many, many hours. WD-40 doesn't seem to do anything, and automotive degreaser also seemed to damage the plastic more than help. I tried lighter fluid, windex, and normal automotive cleaners, all do nothing. What should I do?

  1. Try to use a light amount of lacker thinner(I don't know how to spell that) But be careful because it could melt plastic. Although my car isn't plastic, I used this on my car after I took the badges off to try and take the stains of that sticky stuff.

    Sorry, that's all I have!!

  2. I'm not too sure that that is removable.
