I know that the Humane Society of the United States opposes it as well as the AKC and the American Veterinary Medical Association. What other groups oppose BSL?

The Humane Society of the U.S. is **not** against BSL, in fact, they support it, along with PETA.  HSUS & PETA were among those who were going to condemn the Micheal Vicks dogs to death.  The president of H$U$ used to work for PETA.  

The ASPCA, AKC, AVMA, UKC, NAIA among other are against BSL.

Remember, the H$U$ does not operate one shelter in the U.S., their funding goes towards legislation.  The 1 shelter that is operated by PETA in VA,  killed 90% of its animals last year, only 10 were adopted out.
