  1. You should mention if you are UK or US.

As far as I know there is no legislation covering homeschooling in the UK.  There is a big home schooling group where i live.  Do a google and you might find some local info to where you are.  Good luck!

  2. I live in the U.K and have home educated for the past 8 years.

All we did, was write a letter to the school, then we had a visit from the welfare officer, to see if we had thought this through.  Then we had an appointment for the LEA to visit and talk through how we were going to educate our son.

Now we have a visit roughly every 6 months to see that we are doing some work, and have a great feedback.

So go for it.  I found that the past place to start was reading one to one, then onto unqualified education.  These are available from nezert books.

I have also given you another link for news and information.

Go for it.  good luck and if you need anymore advice, then please get in touch.

    Pippa

  3. Legally? You need to find out about the laws specific to where you live. If you are in the US, do a search for _yourstate homeschool laws_. If you are in Canada, _yourprovince homeschool laws_ (DON'T rely on the Canadian HSLDA site for the laws because they are not updated necessarily; my province's laws changed over a year ago and they still haven't updated them). If you are in another country, _yourcountry homeschool laws_. You could also try to find a homeschool association for where you live and they should be able to explain the laws to you.

  4. depends on how you decide to home school your students. If you charter school then your children will have a teacher who visits once a month or so and brings the schoolbooks at the beginning of the year and collects and grades the schoolwork every meeting. Its quite simple really.

It all depends on your state. The only difficult part is you have to sign your child up at the home school and have their school transfer the student files(?) to the home school. That can sometimes take a long time, other than that its quite simple. The home school provider will run you through everything and they really take care of the hard parts.

  5. You have to meet state, province or national requirements.  Consult the Education Law sites.

For example, in one US state you have to file an intent to homeschool before August 15th otherwise you can't do it until the following year.

  6. In Washington state

    Requirements for the parent?

The parent has a choice of going to a teacher once a week or to have been in college for two years, no degree.

    Requirements for the school system?

Just fill out a paper that states you are going to take them out of school and the public school is not responsible for them.

    Requirements for the child?

"Un-schooling" them if they have been in public school. The system has worked on the children and has programed them to think certain ways. The job of the parent is to re-program the child.

  7. as long as you know maths and English you should be fine.  but for some more advise look up the site.

    http://www.home-ed.co.uk

you might have read it but it tells you about the legal matters and all.

    hope it helps

  8. It depends upon your state, province, or national regulations. If you are in the U.S. than you can find the regulations for your state or territory at:

    http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp

  9. if you are in the UK none at all just inform the school you are going to home tutor. you get a visit from a home learning advisor and if you have a reasonable grasp of the basics of education that is it. they repeat the visit every 12 months
