What requirements must i meet to get a year of unemployment insurance?

Im currently going to be unemployed as of march7 and am goin to school full-time but available for work. I heard that after 6 months i can file for another 6months if i havent found any jobs. I might have that wrong, so can anyone help me with what is necessary. Im a resident of Illinois.

  1. You can't get unemployment if you're a student.


  2. iF YOU GO TO SCHOOL FULL TIME, THERE IS NO STATE UMP OFFICE THAT WILL GIVE YOU MONEY.

  3. You have to have been a full-time employee of a business that pays unemployment insurance.  Students are not eligible. You have to have been laid off, not fired for cause or voluntarily quit.  Even then, you only get six months of unemployment, not a year.  You have to be actively looking for work and not a student to continue receiving.
