What restaurants do you get really good tips working as a waitress at?

If you have a major airport near where you live, you can make as much as $2000 per month from tips. My old roommate in Newark, NJ was making this much waiting tables beyond the security checkpoint at Newark's airport.

I don't know what city you are in, but you are looking for the busiest restaurant that will give you the biggest section (for example, Hooters may do $20k on a friday night, but if you only have a 3 table section, you aren't going to make as much as you would at a $15k restaurant where you have a 5 table section). You also want to work somewhere with a HUGE bar (the more people drink the more they tip)

Most large franchise restaurants are fine (chilis, applebees, etc...) but I recommend going to a Tex-Mex restaurant.

fine dining restaurants pay well IF you can get a job. Tabs easily run over $500 for one table. You usually must have some wine knowledge and experience.

Honestly, it depends on what kind of establishment you want to work at. I personally do not eat at Hooters, so I don't know. This questions is also a matter of opinion - what is considered a good tip? I will go to a diner such as IHOP and if I feel the service is good, I will leave a 5 dollar tip for a $20.00 bill. Pretty reasonable. I believe the unofficial/official equation is 20% of the bill is a good tip. So a $100.00 bill would be a $20 spot, $5.00 would be %20 of $20.00 =)

Stay away from any chain restaurant.  The food quality is poor and the tips are horrendous.  A server can easily make $40k a year in a fine dining restaurant, and over $100k in starred restaurants.
