What restaurants in downtown LA have great views of the city?

it's my girlfriend's birthday and we lived in LA for a while now, just never got a chance to explore. looking for a restaurant with good window or patio view of the city (from the city) on a high floor of a skyscraper or something like that. (do these restaurants even exist?)

yeah go to the bonaventure hotel it's really romantic but if you go to the bar on top it has the view of the whole city good luck

Oh, the Bonaventure in downtown LA is AWESOME... because the top floor/restaurant moves! As you dine, the view changes. It revolves... very slowly but from the time you order your meal to the time you're paying the check, the view will be different.

There's also Encounter.. that spaceship looking thing at LAX. Yes, it's a restaurant. They just remodeled it too.

There's also Yamashiro. It's a really nice Japanese place overlooking Hollywood, above the Magic Castle on Franklin. Very romantic I hear, since it's the only one of the 3 I've never been to.

All these are on the pricey side FYI but depending on your gf's likes/dislikes, they're well worth it! You scored points by just PLANNING something special IMHO.

Windows was also a great place... until they CLOSED it. I included the link so you can see what we're all missing out on thanks to corporate greed!

P.S. I happen to really like Encounter because I LOVE airplanes and the building is really impressive at night when it's lit.
