What restaurants or food do you eat when you visit Cairo, Egypt. Any hotel recommendations? And is it safe?

I do want to visit the pyramids, do they have travel packages there or do I take some sort of transportation on my own?

There is a lovely cafe in City Starz called Cilantro.

Another good restaurant is Cortogiano in Heliopolis [In Central AlMaza]

according to the travel agency you are going with some travel agency's offer a package tour to the pyramids  ,for the hotels (The four seasons) or (Conrad) they are expensive but you will be offered a luxurious accommodation) of course they are safe as long as you stay in a good hotel

On my trips I've stayed at the Nile Hilton (right next to the Museum of Antiquities) and the Cairo Marriott in Gezira,near Cairo Tower.  Both were fine with the edge in comfort going to the Marriott. Both have several restaurants in the hotels with a variety of cuisines.  Tours to the pyramids can be booked at the hotels, or you can walk outside and hire a taxi driver for the day and he'll take you wherever you want to go.

it is best to come to Egypt, Cairo in a travel package , with a tour agent bec it would give you good accommodation and  organized trips .

Egypt , Cairo or any other city is perfectly safe .

good hotels are , Nile Hilton, Ramsis Hilton, Sheraton, Conrad , Marriott .

there are other good hotels , too.

it is advisable to go to another city as well, ie , Sharm, Luxor and Aswan , to see more of the country.

the best best  best place to have dinner in cairo (in my opinion ;) is bora bora...its in the zamelek district of cairo and right on the Nile...in fact you are basically eating on the nile, it has overstuffed modern couches and its perfect for dinner, drinks (they serve wine but you have to ask for it, its not on the menu) and its great for smoking sheesha.....

also there is the Cairo tower that is a revolving restuarant at the very top of the tower.....havent been but i heard the atmosphere is good...

you can hire a cheap car and driver for the day (50 USD) to take you to the pyramids...if you gothrough the Nile Hilton or something like that you will pay more 150 USD +(FYI)...have fun!

and it is very very safe!
