What retirement investment should I make/start?

I am 17 years old and have a business and want to start a retirement investment because I know that by the time I'm 65 it will grow a lot. Should I do a roth ira? and how much money should i put in annually? I was thinking Roth IRA and putting 1000$ per year?

  1. A Roth IRA will give you a lot more advantages in the long run.  $1000 a year is a good start.  The max you can put in right now is up to about $5000 of earned income.

    There are many product types that you can utilize.  My favorite is an annuity, but not a variable.  I like the ones where you can't lose the money you deposit and they can grow a lot.

    These are not as well known, but I believe they are a much safer place to invest your money than stock market accounts, with the potential to grow as aggessively in good markets.


  2. Starting an IRA with $1,000 a year is a good start. As you get older and your business grows you can put more in that and you can use other options for self-employed individuals or small business owners. Good luck to you.
