  1. in Sydney they have every right to ask for your name and date of birth.  If they have reason to believe you are lying, they can ask you to produce ID.  My ex was a smarta*** and said his name was Johnny Walker....the officer got a bit rowdy - he didn't like his "authority" being challenged...so my ex offered him out - take your badge off and we'll settle this off the train he said.....unfortunately the officer took my ex round the back of a building at central where there are no cameras and 5 of them jumped on his head.

I believe they also have the power to arrest you - I saw a couple of officers taking a commuter away in cuffs - not like the cops have but cable tie looking cuffs.  They DO NOT have authority to search you, they have to call the cops.

  2. if you did some thing wrong yes. if not then no

  3. You need to give us some context here.

  4. The answer to that can vary from state to state.  Here in Oregon they have the same athority as police officers and they will arrest you and have a patrol car come haul your *** to jail.

  5. what have you done, they don't ask for your details for nothing, if you don't give it to them then you have to give it to the police.
