What rights do i have as a tenant when the house is under agreement?

the apartment im renting is under agreement for purchase, but have not recieved any notice

  1. Your rights are outlined in your lease.  Refer to it and see what the circumstances you describe are detailed.  If it doesn't detail, you can contact the Property Mgmt company for further disclosure.  Worse case is to contact an attorney to interpret and advise you.


  2. If you have a written lease, it will generally transfer to the next owners when the sale is finalized.  If you have no lease, the new owners merely need give you thirty days advance notice of any change in your tenancy, including rent rates and whether or not they want you to leave.

    If you are renting a single family house and it is being sold, I would start looking for new accommodations soon, since it will most probably be an owner-occupied property.
