What rights does a grandparent have to travel abroad with children?

I am British as are my children, My mother would like to bring my children out to albania (from the UK) to visit in the summer - I will be there - driving over at an earlier date, what does the law say - will she have problems with immigration?

  1. My nice has her own passport and she often travels with one of her grandparents or aunts to Slovakia and/or back to the Netherlands.

    I do not know if she has further paperwork, but I think you will be wise to have a letter of permission signed by both parents, and have it translated in Albanian if you do not get info that is more sure about this situation.

    My niece has both nationalities, mostly she travels with her Slovakian relatives to the Netherlands, by plane so she has to go through passport control several times. (She did till this year, now they are within the Schengen zone.)

    Seeing it is Albania, I would contact the embassy or consulate, as this is a country that is more closed than any of the other European countries, and it can not hurt to ask their point of view.
