Once you get married does your engagement ring or your wedding band go toward your hand? I've heard it both ways but not sure which is right.

  1. I have always heard that it is the ring you got married with. Like in my situation we just went to the JP and my husband forgot the wedding band at home and so he was embarrassed and I took off my engagement ring and gave it to him to give back to me. lol Everyone at my job told me you are supposed to wear the ring you actually married with on the inside. So I am kind of superstitious, so I did what they said just incase.

  2. I've always heard that the wedding band goes closest to your body-so towards your hand.  LOL, my silly grandmother once told me it was to keep it closer to your heart. :)  Hope that helps!

  3. I believe the you put the wedding band on first, followed by the engagement ring. The wedding band is supposed to be closer to your heart. Hope this helps.

  4. ur engagement ring is closest to ur hand and the band is on the bottom. or its whatever you like personally

  5. the band goes on first then the ring.

  6. When placing a wedding set on your finger , the wedding band goes on first and the engagement ring goes on top.  The wedding band is closet to your heart. In older days people were not given engagement rings for they could not afford them ,women were given plain bands or rings handed down from generation to generation. that is why the band goes on first.

I wear mine the opposite way because my engagement ring is too small and I do not want to loose it, I am also of Irish decent and was given a claddagh ring, in that case the ring is used for both engagement and marriage-the ring is upright before marriage and turned upside down once married. Hope that helped you some.

  7. the wedding band goes CLOSEST to your heart... and then the engagement ring is closest to your knuckle...2nd from your heart...

i found this out b/c the day i got married, a friend of mine who recently got married before me, she told me to change it real fast....that it's bad luck if you keep it that way forever... and plus, i think it looks better... but if you start noticing other wedding rings and engagement rings on other women, all women do it that way...
