What is the serious status of todays royal family? It seems that the King & Queen serve only in a "socia" status. Do they serve any serious pupose in the political ring?

  1. it depends on which country? over here in the netherlands, the queen holds no actualy politcal power, lest the appointment of a formator when a new parliament has been elected. as for anything else, she simply signs new laws as a formality, and undergoes diplomatic relations.

i dont know how this works in the united kingdom, canada or australia sorry.

  2. no as i see it they are just a figure head they do not play a real part in today's political problems it is a out dated system but a important social one it is what keeps a group together

  3. The queen is merely a figurehead and has no power in politics whatsoever.

  4. Nothing is passed into law without the Monarch's signature.

M.P.'s are sworn to serve the Monarch's interests above all other considerations upon entering the commons after their election.

The Monarch gives a speech at the beginning of the opening of Parliament detailing what 'Their' government will be doing for the country each year.

I'd say they are pretty much running things...

EDIT. In the U.K. The Millitary, the Law Courts and the Police all work for the 'Crown'. Not the Public and certainly not the Government.

  5. No real political prowess. They only bring fame and shame on their countries.

The monarchs should be left to the butterflies.

  6. If I remember correctly, I was taught that they were merely "figureheads" and Parliament really runs the government in England.

  7. what the h**l are you talking about?
