What role does Meosis and Mitosis play in IVF treatments?

And it would be good if someone could show me an article where it talks about how IVF works....Ive looked everywhere.

  1. in short:

    in in vitro fertilization, they take a sperm and egg (which are individually produced meiotically) and allow them to fertilize outside of of the womb, in a sterile lab setting.  then the fertilized egg, now a diploid cell, will divide mitotically until it develops into an embryo (6-8 weeks), and it is then implanted into the female's uterus.
