  1. Yeah....................................... They are food for herbavores..... and then herbavores are consumed by carnivores...............then carnivores are consumed by 3rd level consumers......... (I don't know the name of it) and then................. we, a top consumer level consumes all that.... yeah.................................. then we talk about "issues".........................

  2. I'll assume that you are asking about the role of plankton in global warming. Plankton includes plants and animal forms (as well as bacterioplankton). The plant plankton, "phytoplankton" are immeasurably important in the control of CO2 in the atmosphere. Photosynthesis whereby plants including phytoplankton removes carbon. Alas, it seems that as oceans warm, phytoplankton production slows down and so a nasty positive feedback loop is set off by global and ocean warming.

A different take on the role of phytoplankton is a suggestion that they actually make matters worse. See the link below.

  3. The same role Patrick and Spongebob play in it

  4. Phytoplankton use CO2 in the process of photosynthesis and give off oxygen as a byproduct. The critical limiting factor of photosynthesis is the concentration of CO2, so if it increases, so will the growth of phytoplankton. Since they are the base of the oceanic food chain, it is good for all oceanic life.

The problem may come if oceanic temperatures rise, as warm water can carry less oxygen than cold water, but so far, the 20th century average of 16C has not risen, and the measurement for 2006 is 0.4C below that figure.
