Personally, I would like to see service between the Twin Cities and Kansas City (probably on the UP's "Spine Line" mainline) and reroute the California Zephyr to the UP's "Overland Route" mainline between Chicago and Omaha (former CNW).

  1. I'd like to see a direct route from Raleigh,NC to...say...Los Angeles, California. But I really don't think that's going to happen in my lifetime.

  2. I have two I'd like to see. One, a direct, Chicago-to-Boston link, with stops throughout Connecticut and other states in between. Perhaps calling this the "New Englander". Two, bring back the "Desert Wind", to Las Vegas, from points east, including chicago, given Chicago is an already established rail hub.

  3. I think a number of short feeder/connector links to suppliment existing lines would make the most sense, rather than see a full line off on its own. Currently, for instance, to get from Atlanta to southern Georgia one must change trains in either New Orleans or Washington, DC.

I'd rather see upgrades to current lines - and fare cuts.

  4. The "southern" route across Montana. Through Billings, Bozeman, Helena and Missoula. The old NP line goes through a lot more populated areas of the state and would serve many more customers.

  5. Chicago to Florida (the Floridian or similar, but perhaps rerouted to use better quality trackage).

I'd like to see the Pioneer come back, possibly even Seattle - Portland - Denver - New Orleans instead of Chicago.

  6. I'd like to see one built in either Idaho, Wyoming, or Montana. Those states have one rail system in them and thats the Amtrak Route called Empire Builder. We would have to take a greyhound bus to Sandpoint, ID to get on an Amtrak route

  7. Chicago to Fla.

Chicago, Indianapolis, Louisville, Atlanta, Orlando and then to Miami and Tampa, (  different cars)

    -----

Phila to St Louis, via Pittsburgh, Dayton,Indianapolis, ( former National Limited)

(Cars from St Louis to Fla, could be dropped at Indianapolis and added to the Chicago Fla route.)

    ---

New York to Harrisburg and Pittsburgh via Allentown and Reading.(would cut time off NY to Pitt via Philadelphia )

It;s been fun daydreaming, but I doubt if we'll ever see it.

  8. I think they should build a bridge to Antarctica.  It'd be every bit as profitable as their other routes outside the North East Corridor..........

  9. I would like to see passenger service return to the ex. NP mainline in southern Montana, so therefor I'd say bring back the North Coast Limited!!!

I also wouldn't mind seeing them bring back the Pioneer.

A north-south route from Billings, Mt to Denver, Co would be nice also.

  10. Columbia, SC to Atlanta Ga.
