What rpm should a 93 z28 camaro be at when it is idle?

car feels very accelerated, when i floor it it kind of feels like it takes in a lot of air so the response is not there can someone please help its driving me crazy no pun intended

  1. If the engine is cold and you are just starting it up, it should start idling aroud 1100-1400 RPMs. Within about 5 seconds it should drop to just under 1000 and eventually should level off between 600-800 RPMs as the engine warms up to normal operating temperatures.

    If it seems to be idling higher then that it sounds to me as if something is off. If the service engine soon/check engine light is not on then it will be hard to track down as there are many parts that can cause a high idle. For example it could be an EGR valve or Throttle Position Sensor going bad. It may be the mass air flow sensor as well.  


  2. It should be listed on the emissions label under the hood on the fan shroud!

  3. 700-800 rpm.

  4. 500 to 800 rpm anything more theres something fishy
