We want to sell homemade brownies, scones, jams, etc at a car boot sale. Is this ok to do or do we need to follow any particular guidelines, etc?? Do you need a permit to do this? Can you also sell hot food?

  1. It's OK, as long as the organisers agree to what you are doing (some car boot sales don't like refreshment stalls - but these tend to be the organisers who sell food at their own outlets. They don't like the competition!).

Certainly for a Farmers' Market, I would look into obtaining a Food Hygiene Certificate (from your local College) and seek approval/guidance from Environmental Health. Environmental Health can be contacted through your local Council.

Hope all goes well for you and this advice was helpful!
