  1. the youngsters like kickboxing! its hot and appears to stay hot!

  2. If you could go into the NFL, with a guaranteed minimum wage of $280,000 a year for a rookie rising to $860,000 after 11 years, with a guaranteed 11-12 year minimum career provided you don't totally **** up, and the potential to earn $26 million a year for playing a few football games, or could go into boxing starting at $500 to $2,000 per fight, maybe never making it and not earning much more than this, or maybe become a fringe contender on $50,000 per fight 3 times a year, putting your health and life at risk, what would you choose? That's what's happened to American heavyweight boxing.

  3. Not much.

  4. what happened is when the berlin wall fell and the former soviet union became into a democratic counrty..the russians finally had an opprtunity 2 compete with the world in boxing..russains are beasts in the ring,if russains were allowed to box back than, history of boxing wouldve been much different...ali,tyson,holyfield,frazier.... woulvde been dominated by the russkies...an up and comming russkie that will soon unify the titles in the heavyweight division is alexander povetkin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vdd5yWLYL...

  5. Don't know.....but I do know that it sure as h**l not the same anymore......I honestly am not that into it as I was years ago.

  6. since the downfall of tyson and the departure of lennox lewis the heavyweight division has sadly declined and lost sooooooooo much popularity.the russian klitsko is a disgrace and not fun to watch at all.

  7. It's being taken over by the Russians, Ukrainians, and Kazakhs

  8. they no longer hold the title. there is a lack of athleticism amongst American heavyweights and that is why all the titles have been taken by other countries

  9. the last great heavyweight was Evander real deal Holyfield lenox lewis had his ultra booring way of jabbing his way to victory on every fight that definitly hurt boxing no one wanted to see that the heavyweight talent pool has evaporated we need someone to come in and start running threw these guys like tyson to revive it

  10. Heavyweight boxing is down across the board.  American Heavyweight boxing is down specifically.  Guys that are big enough to be heavyweights are opting for other sports like Basketball & Football.  Some try to go to boxing as a second option after they fail at other sports, but have missed those formative years where you develope good habits and drop your bad ones in the ring, so most of these fighters are flawed.

Right now the only US Heavyweight I would say is Top 10 Quality is Tony Thompson.

Guys like John Ruiz, Eddie Chambers, Chris Arreola, & Calvin Brock are just outside the top 10.  Its a sad state of things for USA HW Boxing.

  11. It ran out of numbers.

Boxing is a hard sport, needs a hard living society to produce fighters, and the US average citizen just has it too easy these days,

There are a lot of other easier sports for 'big guys' to make money in. Several football styles, athletics, track and field, all the olympic events, bodybuilding etc. etc

The Hwt slump started in the late 70's actually, but we didn't notice it until those guys retired- in the early 90's.

  12. used to be that the spotlights were on heavyweight matches, with the lighter division bouts as undercards.

but people got tired of bulky warriors with slow motioned heavy punches, and switched to the fast paced action that the lighter divisions can offer.

though el terible, mexican assassin and dinamita commands main events on their prime, the pacman had generated so much interest these past few years on the featherweight division with his speed, power and sheer on-ring brutality.
