well to send the parcel from india to US will be safe if u send it through an organisation like FEDEX.yes u wil be charged a bit high rate but u the peson will receive it in the same condition as it was send.

send by post its eazy and cheep. by one kg charge hope 100Rs.  and if you send by courier its eazy but so costly...approx 500 t Rs 900 kg.
