  1. Extremophiles maybe how about just plain stinking bacteria since they live hot sulphuric acid.

  2. Here is what I found. Hope it helps:

"Noun   thermoacidophiles Plural form of thermoacidophile. Archaebacteria that grow in hot sulfur springs at low pH. "(source:http://cancerweb.ncl.ac.uk/cgi-...

"Thermoacidophiles - They include members of the genera like Thermus and Sulpholobus. The members of sulphur oxidising genus, Sulpholobus on the basis of staining reactions, have been characterised as Gram negative spherical cells. The cell walls of Sulpholobus lack murein. They also have other features of archaebacteria including rRNA homology and membrane structure. They are thermophiles with an optimum growth temperature of 70 - 75°C Sulpholobus spp.occur in hot, acidic environments (thermoacidophiles)." From: http://www.microbiologyprocedure.com/pro...

"Thermoacidophiles are adapted to two extremes, they generally grow at pH values below 3 and at temperatures above 50°C. Four genomes of thermoacidophilic archaea have been sequenced to date: Thermoplasma acidophilum, T. volcanium, Sulfolobus solfataricus, and S. tokodaii. A few years ago, strains of Picrophilus were isolated which take an extraordinary position at the borderline of known microbial life with respect to acidophily. These aerobic, heterotrophic organisms grow optimally at 60°C at pH 0.7, but are capable of growth even around pH 0. Analysis of the Picrophilus torridus genome is expected to yield insights into the strategies of thermoacidophilic adaptation and into the evolution of thermoacidophiles, and will gain access to robust enzymes for use in biotechnological applications. I also found this:"Brevibacillus levickii sp. nov. and Aneurinibacillus terranovensis sp. nov., two novel thermoacidophiles isolated from geothermal soils of northern Victoria Land, Antarctica "(Source: http://ijs.sgmjournals.org/cgi/content/f...
