  1. Some of the other answers mention differences, but the fundamental difference between humans and other animals is reflected in this question - we can actually wonder about what makes us different, and then articulate the question so that other humans can reason about it and give an answer.

  2. about two million years.............

  3. The differance human can smile but animals cannot. we have 6th sense but animals don't have it.human beings can think.   Why you have such doubts?

  4. Cognitive awareness.

  5. animals never lie.

  6. we have aposable thumbs, keen intellect, tools, and the mentality that we are above other species. As creatures we are very social and tend to group together. What separates us from chimpanzees and apes is our DNA sequential  patterns which is less than 1%

  7. Humans are animals. In society, however, the term animal is often used to describe something that is not human or that is abhorred due to barbarianistic qualities.

  8. Human beings ARE animals.

  9. human beings can reason out...animals can't

  10. Human beings have a mind and can think and reason...

    Animals have instinct ....

    Peace & Love

  11. A human being has a rational intellect and a free will that an animal lacks|

But as animals lack those, they make up for it in *perception|*

They can percieve details and nuances in the environment that humans are completely incapable of|

So trust your pet when it reacts to something in a certain way|

  12. Human beings can form words, speech patterns, sentences. Can speak in the present, about the future, can arrange thoughts. We have the capability to make choices.

Animals cannot. They can communicate, however can not form words, or sentences, can not speak of anything.

    Animals live on instinct.

    God bless****

  13. Human beings ask such questions, animals don't.

More seriously, man is the only animal who can fight for his own destruction.

  14. a paycheck

  15. Human animals are devious, mean spirited, greedy, jealous, etc with just a little compassion thrown in make a ridiculous creature !!!

  16. Biologically, we're all animals. Psychologically, we're the worst kind. We're very conceded and do whatever we can for pleasure. We've hurt/are hurting the environment incredibly badly and bringing down every other piece of life with us- are there any other species that have caused that much destruction- I don't think so. Some have caused massive damage to their environment, but it's not world threatening.

  17. Well, humans are an animals, but what separates us from other animals is the brain development.

  18. There is no fundamental difference. We're all animals.

  19. The big difference is the development of  the brain.

No other animal can symbolize the world like we can.

No other animal can think about themselves like we can.

No other animal can make contact with another of its species as we can.

There is no other species that can think about Mars. Theres is no other species that can think about the difference between male and female.

it takes a developed brain like no other animal has to make this happen.

  20. the two most important things that made us a higher life form is that we evolved a thumb. and we can use tools. we also have language.

granted animals can use tools a very little bit. and other might have a limited language capability. but we can do them to a very great extent and have evolved substantially.

i disagree that animals cant reason. i think that some can, albeit their intelliegence levels drop at maybe 5 or 10 years old.

my reason for this is my observation with my cats. they often communicate to me by placing toys, straws and q-tips they somehow stole around anything they might want, like an empty food dish to be filled. or maybe they want the closet door opened where they like to sleep, so i will see they roll a cup next to the closed closet door. those things do take intelligence and some amount of reasoning to do.

i also had a cat once who had a tumor in her face. before she died she kept poking her paw on my face, a behavior she never exhibited before. and then shed poke her face, like she was trying to tell me something.

these are indoor cats. you can really observe a lot with indoor cats.

animals also have feelings. for instance they can grieve. elephants grieve substantially when a member of their family dies. they will moan and cry and charge about in anger.

i also once had a cat who, when the other cat with the tumor, lost all his hair. he stopped grooming. and his eyes would get incredibly teary. he would meow terribly. he eventually died two months later and i think he died in grief.

  21. "Us" humans don't run from vacuum sweepers. "They" (animals) do.
