  1. Hi,

first thing you should see is the castle. Most of it is an excentric pseudo-medieval building of the 19th century. Very interesting.

Then you should spend some time exploring the shops and indoor shopping arcades etc. In my experience, Cardiff is one of the nicest places to shop outside London.

The National Museum of Cardiff is a bit weird, as it throws so many different collections into one. But that also means that there should be at least one thing there that would be interesting to you.

Do also check out Cardiff's visitor homepage for more information and suggestions:

  2. Attractions:

Start with the National Museum, then mosy on to to The Castle. Get the Waterbus to Cardiff Bay. (Leaves from The Arborium). The Norwegan Church - church of Roal Dahl. The Millenium Centre. Torchwood is supposed to be under the Millenium Centre. But it's not. I've looked. (Torchwood is a Spin Off of Doctor Who) In the Bay on Weekends they sometimes put festivities on. If you're lucky. Get back on the waterbus (or bus, if it's too late.) Walk up Westgate Street and take a look at the Millenium Stadium. Unless it's a rugby day. Then you can enjoy the cultural delights of Cardiff City.

    The Cultural Delight's Of Cardiff:

Clwb Ifor Bach: Residency of Super Furry Animals.

Glo Bar: Residency of Goldy Lookin' Chain.

Buffallo: Residency of pretty much every student under the sun who ever had a tight pair of jeans / baggy pair of skate trousers.

Monthly What the Butler Saw Burlesque evenings:

Residency of some of the raciest cabaret acts you'll find in Cardiff. Maybe the only cabaret acts you'll find in Cardiff. (www.myspace.com/whatthebutlersaw)

    Lunch:

Ichiban Sushi or Tenkiachi Sushi, Roath & Canton.

The New York Deli, in the Castle Acrade, off St. Mary's Street.

Pica Pica: Residency of the most serious cocktail bar people you'll ever need and two for one on weekdays, as well as a special tapas menu deal lunchtimes. [Warning, you'll probably end up there until late evening if you start with the  cocktails at lunchtime.]

Good local: The Albany, Donald Road, has a skittles alley, real ales and a nice atmosphere.

    Enjoy.

  3. It depends what time you go there.

Cardiff isn't the kind of place where you see things, it's the kind of city where you do things if you get me!

The Millenium Stadium is the centre of the city. Everything revolves around it in Cardiff. The tours of the stadium are pretty cheap, very interesting, and available in English as well as Welsh.

Cardiff castle too is well worth seeing. Wales has more castles per square mile than any other country in the world, but Cardiff Castle (Castell Caerdydd in Welsh) is completely different to any other. The Romans started building it (not many other Roman building still exist in Wales), then the Normans continued (most castles in Wales date back to the time of the Normans), and finally in the 18th century it was completed. It looks brilliant. There are plenty of interesting exibits inside.

In the summer one of the great things about Cardiff is that there are plenty of places just to relax. Sophia Gardens is right next to the Castle, absolutely splendid, and a great place to relax whilst watching squirrels playing.

The Wales Millenum Centre is a great place to visit on a cultured night out. There are always shows of some kind on to suit everybody's musical or theatrical tastes. The Millenium Centre is renowned for the quality of the architecture and acoustics.

For a night out Cardiff is only matched by Swansea. On St. Mary's street there are a wide variety of clubs and restaurants that are absolutely crazy! But if you want the calmer clubs, go to Cardiff bay and you'll find a load of bars down there which are just as fun.

Cardiff Museum is a great laugh. It's pretty big, so I would advise you to go to the Natural history section, where there are prehistoric skeletons and a large collection of stuffed animals, as well as in-depth explinations of how the world works. Apart from that there's a section on Celtic history, an art gallery and many other areas of interest. The place is completely random, but the building looks magnificent, right next to the University of Wales, Cardiff.

    I hope this helps.
