  1. Wow..that is a matter of preference!!

No offense to the Shively MMX person..but I myself felt cramped in the seat!!  But of course, that is just me..and I know of many riders that have both the MMX and the 2000.

I myself have a Lovatt and Ricketts--and I'm thrilled with it..nice and buttery soft..made from buffalo hide.  It has a different "twist" in the seat for my "wider seat"...

Are you looking for new or used?  Do you currently have one or is this something new?  Have you tried others from the barn where you ride?

Another important factor is the fit for the horse.  What breed do you ride?

    ***EDIT**

Me too!!  I ride Saddlebreds but there are a lot of Morgans at our barn!!

Do you have a budget?  And again, have you asked any of your fellow stablemates about their saddles or tried any of them?  Talk to your trainer?

Here are a couple of links so you can see what is available..most will let you try the saddle on a trial but that can get expensive with the back and forth shipping....is saddleseat popular in the area that you live?

    Good Luck!!

  2. I like the $70 ones you can get off of craigslist! lol. Sorry not much help.

  3. I Love my shively MMX saddle to death and i think that it is the best saddle out there!!!!

    but its about 2,500 dollars

  4. I dont do saddle seat so...I cant really help! BUT i want to so try doversaddlery.com  (kinda expensive) ummmmm CRAIGSLIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Your best bet is to go to a horse tack store and let them help you.

  6. I've got a Wintec and it's brilliant. It was a liiittle bit expensive, but I love it, even though it's synthetic. It's really light so it's easy to get on and off and must be better on the horse to have a lighter saddle on its back. It's really comfy too. Mine has pads you can add or take away so that the saddle is a better shape for jumping in. Also, it's a good investment because if you want to use it on another horse, you can change the gullet so it'll fit onto another one, or even if your horse gains or loses weight.

  7. Talk to your trainer or a worker at a tack shop about which saddle would be best fro you specifically - here are some sites to get one off of:

    www.equestrianclearance.com

    www.usedsaddles.com

    www.cowboyway.com/CheapSaddles.htm

    www.advancedsaddlefit.com

    www.TrinityTack.com

    www.BigdWeb.com

    www.SaddleOnline.com

    www.bitsandbridles.com

    www.saddlesnhorsetackshop.com

    www.equinenow.com/saddleseat.htm

    www.buytack.com/

Your barn might have some saddles for sale there from retired riders - one of these might be cheaper

    Good luck!
