  17. Tofu is almost sponge-like and porous and absorbs whatever sauces you can come up with, whether it be bbq sauce or a clear vegetable broth with whatever herbs and spices you can think to combine up with it.  Experiment and use your imagination and you will be surprised at just how creative you can be...DON'T BE AFRAID TO COMBINE FLAVORS YOU MIGHT NOT THINK SOUND GOOD TOGETHER AND HAVE FUN WITH IT AND BE SURE TO WRITE THEM DOWN TO USE AGAIN!  Look up some websites that talk about herbs and spices in your web browser.

    Pan Fried Young Tofu

You might think that this is just normal tofu which people sell in the market. I can guarantee that this is one of the greatest vegetarian dishes that you could ever try. It takes time to make this tofu but it's worth it for special occasions. Check out the following recipe.

    Ingredient:

    Rice powder : 2 bowls

    Green bean :300gr

    Corn flour:1 bowl

    Tofu :5 pieces

    Black mushroom :300gr

    Onion : 2

    Water :20 bowls

Oyster sauce, soya sauce, Knorr powder, pepper, oil.

    How to make:

    Black mushroom, onion: chopped finely

Green bean : cooked then ground.

Put all together and mix up, cook until all the moisture has almost evaporated. Scoop out into a tray, divide them into small square pieces and store in the freezer. Take them out and deep fry, at first over a low heat after covering them lightly in flour. Turn the heat up slowly once they are browned slightly. Must be eaten hot and crispy with soya sauce(chili).

  21. bonito with some low sodium soy sauce is how we eat it.

  22. Marinating tofu is one of the many ways of flavoring it. When a recipe instructs you to marinate tofu and it does not tell you the tofu texture or hardness to use, I recommend using a regular firm or extra-firm tofu. If you are marinating for less than one hour, it can be done at room temperature covered with wax paper, paper towels, or a towel. However, for longer periods of time, marinating should be done in a tightly-covered container in the refrigerator to prevent bacterial growth and spoilage.

Frozen and thawed tofu absorbs marinades faster than unfrozen tofu. In fact, if the marinade is thin, you may only need to quickly dip the tofu in the sauce on each side for it to be fully absorbed into the tofu. However, if the marinade is thick, the tofu may still require several hours or even overnight to absorb the marinade fully.

    Tofu Sour Cream

    Makes 1 cup

1 cup (6oz.) Soy Deli Nigari Firm Tofu, mashed

    1 Tbsp. olive oil

2 Tbsp. lemon juice, freshly squeezed

    1 tsp. white rice vinegar

Put tofu, lemon juice and vinegar in a food processor. Process until smooth. While blender is still blending add olive oil slowly. This will create the desired creamy texture.

Substitute firm tofu for ricotta or cottage cheese called for in your pasta recipes. (Great in Lasagna)

Crumble firm or extra firm tofu and saut6 with spices to be used in spaghetti, chili and taco dishes.

Soft tofu makes a thick, smooth dressing for salads and mayonnaise when pureed with other, spices.

Tofu has a great capacity to pick up flavor. Flavor in dips, dressings and sauces will often improve if left to stand before serving.

Replace the cream in creamed soups with soft tofu.

Create smoothies with soft tofu. just blend with your favorite fruits and juices.

Mix crumbled firm or extra firm tofu with other ingredients to create meatloaf.

Baked tofu can be sliced and used in place of cold cuts or cheese in sandwiches.

Baked tofu adds flavor when combined with, salads
